Our Vision
To ignite purposeful and fulfilled lives.
Our Mission
Providing a safe and nurturing place where people find immediate relief, hope, encouragement, and unwavering support to move from homelessness to safe shelter and opportunities for growth and independence.
Our Values
Humanity and Kindness
We are dedicated to extending humanity and kindness to all.
We foster a culture which is dedicated to serving our community.
We are committed to providing immediate relief and support to people experiencing homelessness.
We have a strong commitment to respond to the specific needs of our people and will not shy away from difficult cases that require extra perseverance, understanding and care.
We aim to help people to maintain their dignity, generate opportunities and improve their prospects whilst reducing the trauma associated with the experience of being homeless.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our people.
We work towards transforming lives with the warmth and commitment of our entire team.
Self Determination and Connection
We have a strong ethos of empowerment and acknowledge the individuality of each person; we serve without judgement or requirements; we believe everyone deserves to be assured of dignity and respect.
We believe a person's circumstances shouldn't define their future and that given the right support, everyone can reach their full potential.
We endeavour to be a model of compassion and humanity; we desire to enrich the lives of those we serve, as well as those who serve beside us.
We take a bio-psycho-social, person-centred and trauma informed approach to meeting the individual needs of people, no matter how complex or multi-faceted those needs may be. We strive to build community and bring hope, encouragement, and purpose to the lives of those we serve, whilst creating opportunities which enable pathways out of homelessness.
We aim to promote dignity and positive social interactions in an inclusive and welcoming environment which enables people to exit the cycle of homelessness with as little trauma as possible, increasing their chances of leading a fulfilling life following their homelessness experience.
We strive to help our people obtain permanent housing, increase their income, improve their health, develop their self-worth, and regain stability and self-sufficiency.
We aim to offer bio-psycho-social, person-centred, trauma-informed care that supports people to set achievable and realistic goals that will enable them to work towards a safe, sustainable and happy future.
We aim to establish programs that encourage self-respect and foster self-empowerment.
Integrity and Excellence
Our Board, Management team, Staff and Volunteers conduct themselves with honesty and integrity and we believe in holding ourselves to the highest standards.
We are credible, competent, and keep our commitments.
We believe in commitment and excellence in service.
Lead, Innovate and Collaborate
We seek to inspire others with our efforts so that they too may do what is necessary and develop the Mackay Community into a place that is known as one where people can find acceptance and support to improve their circumstances.
We believe that community collaboration is the way forward, and welcome partnerships and cross-referrals with like-minded organisations with open arms.
We promote collaborative, client-centred relationships between community organisations in our region by generating referral pathways and inviting other community organisations to utilise this space to promote and provide services which are beneficial to people experiencing homelessness.
We will continue to form collaborative, therapeutic relationships that are client centred.
We plan to foster education, innovation, and discovery within our project management design.
We strive to raise awareness and explain issues of homelessness and to influence public policy.
We understand that tackling homelessness requires a grasp of complex problems, multifaceted care needs and ‘wrap around’ solutions and we will strive to address the practical, emotional and social challenges that our people face.
We will work toward a day when we see an end to the homeless experience in Mackay.
